Dusty Demons


Welcome to CARR's new and improved junior development Mountain Bike (MTB) program for 7-12 year olds.


When: Monday 20 July - Monday 21 September 3.30-4.30pm


Where: Telegraph Station


What: A MTB program to foster kids love for mountain biking with friends, learn to ride Alice Springs' amazing local trails, develop MTB skills and confidence and learn basic bike maintenance. Receive a personalised number plate and celebrate with an end of season BBQ.


Life skills include the importance of looking after yourself through sleep, nutrition and hydration, mindset, looking after each other, and our beautiful environment.


Who: The program will be facilitated by Georgina Landy who has been riding and competing interstate since 2008, delivering the Dusty Demons program for 5 years now, is a Level 1 Intermediate Mountain Bike Instructor and deliverer of the Level O Beginner MTB Instructor Course. She is passionate about empowering others to ride and enjoy the many benefits of mountain biking such as connecting with self, others and nature, feeling alive, feeling great and as a result making everything else in our lives better!


Steve Karpelles is an enthusiastic mountain biker who has made the most of the incredible trails and development opportunities in Alice since he moved here a four years ago. He has been an integral part of developing the Dusty Demons program volunteering last year and advising on the best way to grow the program.


Owen Chenhall is an incredibly skilled and competent young rider competing at the national level. He is a trained Level 0 MTB Skills Instructor and we are very excited to have a young person join and inspire the Dusty Demons team.


Peter Kennedy is also a trained Level 0 MTB Skills Instructor and since moving here from Melbourne has participated generously and enthusiastically in the MTB club and Dusty Demons. Welcome Peter. We are super excited to have you on board.


We all have current Working with Children cards and First Aid qualifications.


All participants are welcome between the age of 7-12 but more importantly they need to bring the following:


- able to balance, brake and change gears competently


- fully functioing bike and helmet and closed toe shoes


- an appreciative, open and optimistic mindset


- be kind


- snacks and a water bottle or camel back


- spare tube, tyre levers, pump and multi tool


HOW: Aim to arrive at Telegraph Station around 3.15pm so you are ready to ride by 3.30pm. The session will finish by 4.30pm.


There are only 24 places so get a membership and register for the program NOW to secure your child's spot. You must complete 2 steps:
