“Karen Lebsanft is the CEO and founding Director of The Kurrajong Kitchen Group. From 1993 to present, Karen and her husband Ben have taken the business from a small restaurant in Kurrajong to the large established kitchen in Windsor. Kurrajong Kitchen Lavosh is a well know brand Australia wide and popular with the food service industry as leaders in flatbread products.
Karen prides herself on the family values that the business has been built on and is well supported by her husband Ben, daughter Lorna and son Jack, in keeping this brand top of mind.
With an Advanced Diploma of Business Management and working in Corporate Companies, Karen drew on her knowledge, skills and experience to set up The Kurrajong Kitchen Group. Karen is a member of various Business Networking groups and supports the charity Feel the Magic as a mentor during their camps. She has raised over $5,000 for the charity in her 2017 New York Marathon run.
In 2017 Karen won the prestigious award for Business Person of the Year for the Hawkesbury, NSW. On a personal level won the National Award for Curvette of the Year and in November ran the New York Marathon.
Awarded Champion Manufacturing at the Australian Small Business Champion Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony 2018 - the only national recognition program for Australian small businesses - this award recognizes the efforts of small business people whose contribute to the prosperity and vitality of communities across Australia. Karen recognises gaining national recognition as an industry leader symbolises team spirit, vision, hard work and commitment.
2018, with Karen at the forefront saw Kurrajong Kitchen awarded the Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence in Manufacturing. The Patron’s Choice award recognises organisations who contribute to the community.
Later that year Karen was identified by the author of UNSUNG BUSINESS HEROES publication as one of the 50 Unsung Business Heroes in their 2nd edition – “50 Unsung Business Heroes 2”. This book was published in 2019 featuring inspiring stories of highly successful Australian business owners and CEOs.
Most recently in 2019 Karen was approached to share the Kurrajong Kitchen story in Foxtel’s Industry Leaders TV Series. Featuring the cream of the crop of Australia's two million businesses, Industry Leaders highlights the courage, determination and passion that has enabled these leaders to smash their goals and be an important part of the Australian economy.
The creators of Industry Leaders believe that "our industry leaders are the backbone of this great nation". As such, they have travelled the length and breadth of this country, documenting the stories of some of our most courageous, influential and hardworking Australians. With desire to encourage and empower, Karen shares the Kurrajong Kitchen journey - an incredible Aussie success story.
Karen ‘s passion for public speaking will see her engaged with companies Australia wide as they sought her knowledge and story of a humble beginning to a leading Australian, family owned, manufacturing company in the food industry.
