ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SERIES
This 2 day workshop for allied health professionals provides the essential introductory core skills and knowledge for providing effective behaviour change counselling in the form of Motivational Interviewing. Applications featured in this course are consistent with typical chronic lifetsyle related illnesses and mental health presentations. The course does not cover MI applications in corrections or family violence settings.
The course is delivered over 2 days IN PERSON in Sydney, Australia, Covid-19 permitting.
During day 1 we will be completing an overview of the MI basics: core skills and spirit. Day 2 is designed to take your Motivational Interviewing skills to the next level. Attendees will be guided through the Four Processes of MI which scaffold the behaviour change counselling process into distinct stages with specific tasks and tools.
This course is a starting point and aims to leave attendees feeling ready and excited to start playing with MI in their practice or taking their exsisting MI skills up a knotch. Fluency in MI will require ongoing deliberate practice, skills support & feedback and extension workshops. Don't let that deter you! Just starting to head in an MI direction can have some real benefits for you and your clients.
Workshop registration includes all printed materials and catering.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING
All care will be taken to observe social distancing and hygeine guidelines relevant to the current corona virus pandemic, during the running of this event. Registrants are asked to not attend if they are sick or have been advised to isolate. Refunds will NOT be issued if:
- 1. An attendee is unable to attend due to sudden illness or need to isolate.
- 2. An interstate attendee is prevented from attending due to sudden border closures /flight cancellations
If the event cannot proceed due to Sydney lockdown or a tightening of the current gathering restrictions, full refunds will be issued to all people registered to attend the event. An online replacement event will be scheduled and ticket holders will be given first priority to register for this event.
